Delong Instruments – Compact TEMs

Delong Instruments specialise in low voltage TEMs. They were founded in 1992 and released their first TEM the following year, but their history can be traced back to 1955 as the TESLA Brno company.

The low voltage design utilises permanent magnets as opposed to electromagnetic lenses used in high voltage systems. This simplifies the design as no cooling is required as well as reducing the size requirements enabling more compact designs that will more easily fit into your lab while the cost is typically significantly lower than conventional TEMs with minimal ongoing running and maintenance costs. The imaging performance of Delong’s low-kV TEMs is comparable or superior to other much larger high-kV (e.g. 120kV) systems for many applications.

The low voltage design facilitates high contrast imaging of low Z materials. This enables you to image cells and other biological materials in their native states without the need for stains, heavy metals and other toxic substances.

Furthermore, Delong’s innovative design incorporates TEM, SEM, STEM as well as ED into their benchtop LVEM 5. The larger LVEM 25E offers more advanced capabilities, including, improved resolution and EDS.
