AXT Adds TriFoil Imaging Products to Their Preclinical Imaging Portfolio

AXT who is currently exhibiting at the Lorne Cancer conference would like to take this opportunity to welcome aboard TriFoil Imaging as their most recent supplier. TriFoil Imaging is a leading developer and manufacturer of multi-modality imaging systems for pre-clinical research, making this new announcement very timely.

Trifoil FLECT CT in vivo Optical Imaging system

AXT’s recently appointed Business Development Manager for in vivo Products Steve Hunter said, “The addition of TriFoil Imaging products to our range gives us a variety of imaging solutions second to none. Their innovative products are world-leading and we look forward to growing their user-base across Australia in the near future”.

Sean Pitts the Director of Sales, Americas, Asia, Oceania from TriFoil Imaging added, “We see Australia as a leader in medical research. With the federal government establishing the Medical Research Future Fund, we foresee many opportunities for our imaging products and are excited to join forces with AXT to exploit these in the near future.  AXT has the product mix and superior technical and customer support capabilities that our customers deserve and require”.

TriFoils flagship is the Triumph tri-modal imaging system that incorporates PET/SPECT and CT technologies all in a single instrument. It has a bore size of 15cm and an axial view of 30cm making ideal for small animal studies.

While the Triumph has an established track record, TriFoil’s InSyte is an exciting new product. It is the world’s first multi-modal system that combines CT with either PET, SPECT or FLECT in a compact benchtop unit. The FLECT (Fluorescence Computed Tomography) is particularly exciting as it is the only true 3D optical imaging system.  We are fortunate to have a unit here in Australia at the Monash University Parkville campus.

TriFoil’s other products include:

  • eXplore CT 120 -a dedicated pre-clinical in vivo micro CT scanner designed for high-quality, high-throughput scanning. It is suited to a wide variety of applications. It is also the only CT system able to provide a true cardiac-gated pre-clinical imaging capability.
  • LABPET/MRI – The LabPET/MRI system combines two unique technologies: digital APD-based PET imaging with cryogen-free superconducting 3.0T MRI for one-step in-line PET/MR imaging of mice and rats. This PET/MRI system has sub-mm artefact-free imaging performance mounted in-line with a translational field-strength MRI of 3.0T (or 7.0T) and 16 cm bore.

The addition of TriFoil’s imaging products bolsters AXT’s Preclinical Imaging portfolio which already includes MRI, PET/MRI, SPECT/MRI and a miniature in vivo confocal endo-microscope from MR Solutions and Rigaku’s high contrast, high resolution nano3DX x-ray microscope.

Steve Hunter also commented that, “with TriFoil’s imaging products we now offer a host of imaging technologies and combinations with multimodal capabilities from both MR Solutions and TriFoil Imaging providing a wide range of flexible solutions to enable researchers the tools they require to be able to gather the data they need to ultimately speed their discoveries on a path to eventual clinical outcomes.”
